Mallikarjun Kharge mistakenly confuses Rahul Gandhi for Rajiv Gandhi

Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, during the INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila ground in Delhi on Sunday (March 31), party president Mallikarjun Kharge made a mistake by confusing Rahul Gandhi for Rajiv Gandhi while intending to pay tribute to the latter.

Netizens quickly noticed the error and highlighted it on social media platform X. Many users shared a clip of Mallikarjun Kharge's speech, where he mentioned Rahul Gandhi as having "sacrificed his life for the country."

During his address, Kharge stated, "We bled for the freedom of this country. Indira Gandhi sacrificed her life, Rahul Gandhi became a martyr for the country and his body was blown away in pieces." This occurred during the opposition INDIA bloc's rally aimed at "protecting democracy and Constitution."

The rally was attended by various opposition leaders, including Sharad Pawar, Rahul Gandhi, Uddhav Thackeray, Tejashwi Yadav, and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav. The event held significance amidst Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's arrest in the Delhi liquor policy scam case by the ED, with allegations of central government misuse of agencies like the ED to intimidate the opposition.
